Project PRECEDENT STUDY & ANALYSIS
Online Forum Discussion
In a group of 5, we are required to carry out a precedent study on a specific building. My group is chosen to study on Salisbury Cathedral. We are required to answer the questions given in a forum and discuss it among our members. By conducting this online forum, I am able to exchange views, share and debate knowledge derived from the precedent studies. This also prepare me for my verbal presentation during Studio critic session.
Analysis Presentation Board
We are required to produce an analysis presentation board consists of illustrative and abstractive diagrams, drawings and text. The drawings should include actual and conceptual design ideas of floor plans, building sections, analysis diagrams and sketches expressing clarity and in-depth investigation of the precedent studies. I have chosen to study the building massing analysis of Salisbury Cathedral. The image beside shows my analysis board.
Through this exercise, I have gain more knowledge on this building and also enable to provide thorough reflections of the questions listed in the subsequent section,

3D Abstraction Model
In this exercise, we are required to create an abstraction model to communicate our precedent and conceptual analysis. The model should be in the form of 3D abstraction expressing the building significant Partí of the precedent studies and conceptual analysis. We have chosen to create the section of the nave as the most significant part of Salisbury Cathedral is the plan and also the spire.
In making this 3D Abstraction model, I am able to express the details of some aspect or part of Salisbury Cathedral. I found there is a lot of important elements in the building when making the model. The model that we have made is best to express the important and noteworthy design concept analysis of the building.
