Project 1: Furniture for Elderly
Project 1 deals with user experience that requires students to design a furniture which is intended for a specific user based on an in-depth study of the user’s need. It is to develop awareness of environmental sustainability in a design and student’s ability to meet the imperative and interrelated social needs. In a group of 2 we were required to design a furniture for an elderly person. This project required us to visit an eldely care centre and carry an in-dept study about an elderly person.
Objectives of Project
The objectives of this project are as follow:
-
To develop awareness of environmental sustainability in architectural design
-
To develop the student’s ability to meet the imperative and inter-related environmental and social needs, as well as make poetry with the buildings
Learning Outcomes of this Project
-
Identify and analyze environmental qualities and contextual needs of a site (Human environment within an architectural space)
-
Apply ideas of environmental sustainability (gained from precedent studies, ESD and Building Science 1 in architectural design
-
Design and create architectural spaces with consideration of environmental poetics in relation to the basic natural context and existing built context (harness environmental qualities of the site to inform design) which impact on users’ experiences.
Through this project I'm able to implement poetic qualities into furniture design, design a furniture depending on the user's need and requrement and produce proper understandable diagrammatic explaination board and presentation board

Project 2: Centre for Elderly
This is the final design project for an elderly center which is an individual project and require to design a elderly centre in PJS 7 where the site is a suburban area with some complexity that includes the complexity of site topography and vegetation and socio-cultural events. This project continuation project 1 as project 1 were design for 1 client and this final project we were require to design for 20 person. Also we need to consider their need, their activity and their schedual. From this project I have learnt to understand more about elderly and to design a elderly center by using the elderly point of view which make me think what I need if I'm an elderly. Moreover, by design an elderly center I also had contribute the site and try to reach thermal comfort by using some venarcular architecture element and some design element from my precedent study.
The objectives of this project are as follow:
-
To develop awareness of environmental sustainability in architectural design
-
To develop the student’s ability to meet the imperative and inter-related environmental and social needs, as well as make poetry with the buildings
-
To emphasize on space planning of clusters of buildings
Learning Outcomes of this Project
-
Apply ideas of environmental sustainability in design
-
Design and create architectural spaces with consideration of environmental poetics in relation to the basic natural context and existing built context which impact on users’ experiences
-
Combine the environmental needs, the site (site topography, history and socio-cultural events), and the users’ experiences within simple building design in the open landscape/suburban context.
-
Produce drawings (both 2D and 3D), modelling and verbal presentation to communicate and visualize architectural design and ideas based on clustered spatial typology
Through this project I'm able to implement poetic qualities into the design of an elderly centre, plan entrance, service areas and routes according to building design and transportation access, produce proper understandable diagrammatic explaination board and presentation board and comply to certain building requirements etc number or rooms, corridor length, door width and such.

Conclusion:
This Studio was an eye opening experience, by completing this project i am able to achieve multiple designated learning outcomes that would further benefit me in my studies and pursue or architecture.
